Am a Hilton Honors member too though not many points.One time I got to stay at Valley Forge Doubletree Alloy for something like $25/night but it was during pandemic and pool and restaurant were both closed.
The hotel had hosted AC in 99 and 00, as the Hilton.
The following yr I stayed again, this time for full price--Furrydrlphia's final year at the Casino..and the Casino's rooms were sold out. (Mostly due to gamblers.. ) Restaurant was reopened but not buffet.
Traditionally I do Doubletree for AC but this yr doing Marriot

I've been to that hotel, it's large, beautiful 2 floor lobby, huge green field, good parking structure that is under ground. Right off 95 and a block or so from the train station serviced by Amtrak which has direct access to airports.

Volunteering is good and at low levels, not very stressy. There are needs for people to unload and load stuff, check badges at doors, help sell badges, and a hundred other things that pop up. It's managing the volunteers and the rest of the committee that is harder.

It varies. Furcons generally pay for the room, transportation, and a per diem for food and stuff. This for guests of honor. The whole sponsor and super sponsor thing got started when fans would want a particular creator at the con, and that person couldn't afford to go. So the sponsor(s) would give extra to the con to literally sponsor someone to attend.

Media cons, they generally have to pay expenses and an appearance fee, plus the star would be selling autographs for additional income, anywhere from five to fifty bucks for an autograph. This turned me off.

Last yr they didn't, so me & @marinevetdan did the pizza from Sally's a pizza and entertainment thing that was an unofficial event In the Gazebo, and they didn't do the ,but sadly It was a bit too close to the dancing comp... Or else more might of showed..so we had 3 ppl do singing stuffs and one do stand up. But fingers crossed they can bring 🔙 the Masquerade again this yr. If not we'll have to get it set up as an actual panel this time. So it gets better traction.

(in)conveniences. (Grad college in 84..)
Cons like the early Anthrocons that had a room w computers to use, often no graphics--yellow type on black background. "Stair Con". Video room and con suite up high (like on 20th flr of 23 story Adams Mark!). Con suite was for anyone, pot luck snacks and soda (in a tub, with ice). Now I see some cons like FCL have a con suite w refreshments but only for supersponsors.

Adams Mark, gone now, 23 floors and one year I was on 18th--elevators overloaded and one broke. The con suite was on 20th flr so not usually congested.
Video room: youtube didn't exist yet.
2nd flr comp room did have pot luck soda and chips.
Adams Mark--indoor pool, outdoor pool and a jacuzzi.

Furpoc had I believe 2 food tasting panels. Went to both. FD may have had one as well, or maybe ANE at earlier hotel?

Food and drink to sample. That's a no no at AC which clearly says you can't give away food or drink.

Yes, in fact one of my friends told me it isn’t too crazy like other conventions and that’s really what helped me decide to go, and I’m so glad I did! I wasn’t too sure if the fandom was for me until that day!
